This Double Corona is earthy throughout, with a good draw that rarely burns too hot. Like most Hoyo de Monterraey cigars, there are some strong spice notes, but the most memorable flavors are chocolate, cherry, and honey.
The first third is heavier on nut and spice, but like any good medium-bodied cigar, the spice does now overwhelm. The second third brings out earthier notes. The final third is more potent and can be a little on the strong side. Many will say this is a medium to full-bodied cigar and this final third is what connoisseurs really savor.
Leather and wood notes persist throughout, so even with the sweet and spicy notes, it’s a savory smoke that pairs best with a single malt whiskey. The burn time lasts anywhere from 90 minutes to 2 hours, making this an excellent option for a relaxing evening smoke.
